An edited exert from a live performance at Britten Studio, Snape Maltings ~ 29/10/11. Fall Back is a new composition by Roly Porter (Former Vex'd) with multi-instrumentalist Cynthia Millar on Ondes Martenot and Dobro. The piece was created during a week-long 'Faster Than Sound' residency at Snape Maltings concert hall with all source material recorded during that time. Artist Rod Maclachlan conjured up images for the performance using the analogue episcopic projection technique; bright lights reflect off objects and this light is focused by a large lens creating epic, hypnotic moving images of exquisite detail. Items projected included coal, plastic bags and a car headlight. A handmade oil-wheel made using sump engine oil was also used. Many thanks to all at Faster than Sound and Aldeburgh Music.
